The University of Kigali (UoK) proudly joins the nation in celebrating fourteen distinguished scientists affiliated with Rwandan institutions who have been named among the world’s most influential researchers in the Stanford University–Elsevier Global Top 2% Scientist List (2025 Edition).

The Stanford–Elsevier ranking is widely regarded as one of the world’s most credible assessments of scientific impact, identifying the top 2% of researchers globally based on career-long citations, research productivity, and overall scholarly influence, using data from the Scopus database.

Inclusion in this elite list signifies international recognition for academic excellence and significant contributions to global scientific knowledge.


Professor Ogechi Adeola: Championing Business Scholarship and Sustainable Development

Among the honoured scholars is Professor Ogechi Adeola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kigali, whose exceptional scholarship in marketing, entrepreneurship, tourism, gender, and sustainable development earned her a place in this global ranking.

In a list largely dominated by experts in the health and medical sciences, Professor Adeola’s inclusion is particularly noteworthy—representing business and management disciplines and underscoring the expanding diversity and influence of Rwanda’s research community.
